I explored the deeper layers of “conjugate inspired” training methods starting in 2012 AD. The powerlifting lean that training took for the 8 years or so after that branched off into whatever the backwoods method continues to evolve into today.
Here is what things looked like earlier this morning:
Warmup
Light Deadlifts, A long walk around Target
Work
Mid-Grip BB Deadlift: 6 (sets) x 10 (reps)
Wide Grip BB Rows: 5x10 (full, slow reps)
***these first two movements were super-setted with sets of pullups of various reps ranges after each of the eleven sets. I love adding these in for additional volume and a conditioning effect if you limit rest times.***
Good Mornings: 5x10
BB Landmine Row: 5x10
***These movements were super-setted with the Backwoods variation of the traditional 45 lb plate pinch to failure, adding in an additional 10 sets of forearm/grip work without killing the clock too hard. These always feel nice right before the happy ending, which I’ll explain below.***
Happy Ending
5-Way Back Finisher (this is a nice back destroyer that I’ll try to find a video of)
10 Minute Squat
Recently, my older son roped me into buying some influencer-backed steak and burger seasoning to go along with his new interest in cooking. I’m sure he will be robbing gas stations before we know.

We went with the Signature Butcher and it’s good shit but mild for my deranged palate. Don’t take my word for it, but add in a little cayenne if you want to stoke the fire and take the full ride. Last time I pulled it off, the cops kept driving by and PETA eventually showed up. But anymore, it goes right onto the oatmeal. No questions asked.
